{"id":70,"date":"2018-05-10T21:47:31","date_gmt":"2018-05-10T21:47:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cyram.org\/blog\/?p=70"},"modified":"2018-05-24T20:12:48","modified_gmt":"2018-05-24T20:12:48","slug":"writing-platform-reviews-bitbucket-taking-things-further","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cyram.org\/blog\/?p=70","title":{"rendered":"Writing Platform Reviews \u2013 Bitbucket \u2013 Taking Things Further"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As the limitations of the simple usage detailed in my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cyram.org\/blog\/?p=57\">last post<\/a> became apparent, I began to experiment with the setup.\u00a0 So, I ignored the thought that told me to just leave things there, and began to search for another way (which is probably why I work in tech).\u00a0 If technical things make you break out in a cold sweat, then this probably isn&#8217;t the solution for you.\u00a0 Otherwise, keep reading, but don&#8217;t say I didn&#8217;t warn you.<\/p>\n<p>Since interacting with Bitbucket could only be done on the web or by the CLI (command line interface), I needed to figure out how to get the CLI working on Android.\u00a0 The first step was to install the app <strong>Terminux<\/strong>.\u00a0 This gives me access to the command line, and the ability to interact with <strong>Bitbucket<\/strong> using a tool called git.\u00a0 \u00a0I followed the guide <a href=\"https:\/\/pedronveloso.com\/proper-git-client-android\/\">here<\/a> to step me through the process.<\/p>\n<p>Once in place I was able to clone my novel onto my phone.\u00a0 I could then install the following:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_78\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-78\" style=\"width: 313px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-78\" src=\"http:\/\/www.cyram.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Screenshot_20180510-224157-300x169.png\" alt=\"Libre Office Viewer\" width=\"313\" height=\"176\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cyram.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Screenshot_20180510-224157-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/www.cyram.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Screenshot_20180510-224157-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/www.cyram.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Screenshot_20180510-224157-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.cyram.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Screenshot_20180510-224157.png 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 313px) 100vw, 313px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-78\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Libre Office Viewer<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>LibreOffice Viewer<\/strong> &#8211; Allows me to edit my chapters in my novel slightly better than the web view for <strong>Bitbucket.<\/strong>\u00a0 I can increase the font size so it&#8217;s easier to read and edit, but still can&#8217;t do things like formatting unless I resort to HTML markup.\u00a0 To me, however, revising is all about checking word choice, so this isn&#8217;t really an issue at this point.\u00a0 In fact, I found that when using a word processor, formatting got in the way.\u00a0 Here I could focus on wording and word choice and get everything else out of the way.\u00a0 Because of this, having my novel in plain text was more helpful than hurtful.\u00a0 The same problem existed as with the Bitbucket online editor: no spell check.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Adobe Photoshop Sketch<\/strong> &#8211;
